Brooktree Counseling & Consulting

About Brooktree

Brooktree Counseling & Consulting, PLLC is a group practice serving children, adolescents and adults across Texas. We have been meeting the needs of individuals and families for over twenty years, and today we work with clients in person by arrangement and through secure teletherapy anywhere in the state.

Our counselors work with substance use and addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, self-esteem, stress, chronic pain and illness, family conflict, and the challenges that come with foster care and adoption. Brooktree is a private-pay practice, and the first consultation is always free.

The practice is also a teaching one. LPC Associates work with clients under close supervision, which keeps a reduced-rate option open for families who need it and helps bring new counselors into the profession.

Dr. Nichelle Chandler

Founder and Clinical Director · LPC-S · LCDC · RPT · CEAP

Dr. Nichelle Chandler began her career in social service as an investigator for Child Protective Services in Texas. Wanting to do more than investigate, she went on to earn a Master’s degree in Counseling and became a licensed practitioner.

Over more than twenty years she has worked in residential drug rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient treatment centers, schools and universities, mental health clinics and private practice. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and sees people of every age — women, men, children and adolescents.

Her specialism is substance use disorders and addiction, and she has helped many teens and adults through it. As a Registered Play Therapist she also has specific training in the needs of young children: conduct difficulties, anger, anxiety, trauma, socialization, grief, and change at home.

She has spent years teaching as well — as a college professor of counseling, and as a mentor to counselors coming into the profession.

Outside of work she keeps an active life, with dancing, bike riding and travel, and time at home with her family — cooking with her daughter, movie nights with her husband. Tex-Mex, Thai and soul food are the favorites.

Her belief is a simple one: every individual deserves to pursue the life they envision.
